The one's that didnt quite make it

You know for some reason I cant explain why some of my paintings and textiles  make it and others dont , this is a view I would see quite often when walking on Gormanston beach ,  I like it but dont know of its quite finished yet altough its a peaceful painting i dont think it done yet so i wont be letting it go just yet

I was playing around with some gutta and fabric paint  but never really moved on with this

sorry for the picture quality , I did this when I was in college it is completely textiles , layers of fabric and stitch but for some reason never did anything with it

Mabey too dark  trying to capture a misty sunset

and then there was this quite large piece , no title but I was at the time trying to capture an under water feeling , lots of people that visit my studio love this , but again I dont know what it is ,  I wont let it go just yet think a few changes are needed

I do like this section  oh and the stones ,

But there you have it some work that lies around for some time  untill I deside what to do with them or change them ,
I think it comes down to what I was trying to achive at the time and sometimes pieces take on their own direction but these ones dont know where their going yet.

The view from my  window that greets me every day , its a constant inspiration  and I cant get enough of it .
Im often asked where do I get my inspiration from , well you cant help where I live , high on a hill has its advantages ,
my view is constantly changing even hour by hour some days , even on grey days , Soft days as we call them here in ireland , or bloody raining AGAIN as we say  but we get on with it

Even on grey days I cant help been inspired

I know , I know im so lucy to have a view like this , the lovely Sugar Loaf

Just a Doodle on the Machine

Let me introduce you to my new baby,   here she is , so smooth , so lovely to sew on , I am so excited to to have her to myself , its like drawing with a pencil. I am on the look out for an extension arm for her and then im sorted ,  have nt got a name for her yet , mind you I havent got a name for my phaff which is now mended and back home with me .
So I sat at the machine one day and started doodling , had just come back from sligo and was inspired by the rugged landscape ,  mind you i seem to be attracted to tree s , as I was with Fairy Tree in an earlier post and it seems a lot of you are aswell
so I left that doodle aside for a few days and then one day decided to add some colour ,
and here it is ,  you see when you look out each day at the grey skys of summer in Ireland and you think there is no colour   well your wrong , here is proof

just placed a mount on top to see how it looks but think i will bring this one into the framers to work their magic ,

Now if you will excuse me im off to play  ,  oh sorry work , such a good feeling when you do what you love

Avocado Dying and Textile Landscape's

I have dyed fabric before with Avocado and loved the results so tought i'd dye another batch
here I have added my fabrics to the pot with  2 avocado skins  , just put the skins into pot and bring to the boil , reduce temp and add your fabrics . I have used cotton , linen, silks  and lace

love the deep colours , but they will be brighter when dry

here you can see all peaches to pinks

I love the way they turn out , uneven colour , and the different shades on the different fabrics
One of my textile hearts made from avocado skins   first batch
