Fairy Tree

In 2010 I entered the perstigious RDS crafts competition and was selected for the exhibition , I was so excited as it was only my second time entering it , as is the competition lots of craft people from all over Ireland entre for many years and never get selected , so I was trilled .

As you can tell it was a lone tree on a lonely hill side on a misty morning , I called it Fairy Tree,

I painted the sky in oils and the hillside and the tree was worked in free motion embroidery ,  unfortunately I didnt take a lot of photos , and this was not completed finished at the time  but some one fell in love with it and it now has a new home.

So last year I entered two pieces , A Stitch in Time and Ivy but they didnt get selected , you can see these in an earlier post ,  so the race is now on for 2012 ,  I will hopefully blog my way through  the design stage and each stage of the competition so watch this space , I have a few ideas brewing .
Till next time .

I worked it on canvas in oils which I love working in , the colours are so vibrant in oils , and i love the smell of the paint aswell
